The Museum will be filled with activities designed to introduce concepts in science, nature and technology to young minds ages 0-5 and to bring hands-on learning to little scientists. The program is open only to pre-k students, and there will be no school groups with older children booked at the same time.

Programs

Making Sense: Students can explore sensory bins in Explore More Stuff where they will experiment with kinetic sand and other polymers. And, prepare to get messy with experiments featuring slime, baking soda and vinegar plus mini elephant toothpaste as student learn about reactions.

Into the Wild: Get up close to animal artifacts in like fur pelts and skulls in that stimulate the senses and help little ones learn about the natural world in Explore More Collections.

Underwater Friends: Visit with some of the species that call our aquarium home in Explore More Life. Museum educators will introduce students to aquatic species using the touch tank. Students will meet sea stars, sea urchins and sea cucumbers and find out how they are all related.

Pipette Art: Explore color, build fine motor skills and learn a basic biotechnology skill – all by using pipettes in Explore More Me!

CLT Skyline Tangram: Your little ones can experience a taste of Thinker Space as they design, create and problem solve with simple Tangram puzzles in Thinker Space. These puzzles use simple shapes to create works of art and geometric designs.

Scheduled Shows

10:00 a.m. – Animal Meet and Greet (Level 1)
Get up close to one of the many animal residents that call the Museum home. Possible species include a snake, lizard, or a tortoise. (Actual species will depend on conditions the day of the event)

10:30 a.m. – Story Time (The Stage)
Join the Discover Place InterActors for a special dramatic story time featuring Reed and Paige.

11:00 a.m. – Animal Meet and Greet (Level 1)
