From Land to Sea

The island nation showcases fascinating wildlife and impressive biodiversity. Our new traveling exhibition teaches audiences about its ecosystems with detailed displays and lifelike models.

From the Gardens of the Queen Marine Reserve to the Zapata wetlands, Cuba’s remarkable range of ecosystems throughout stunning landscapes will stir the imagination. Visitors can get close-up with live animals, including Smallwood's Giant Anole and the Cuban False Chameleon.


A City Fueled by Culture

As home to 11 million people, Cuba’s multicultural heritage extends far beyond its revolutionary history. Immerse yourself in Cuban traditions while orisha thrones and carnival costumes take center stage. The exhibition includes an interactive art gallery where visitors can choose paintings, sculptures or performance art created by Cuban artists to be projected on the walls.


Cuba Tomorrow

Explore some of Cuba's exports, businesses and other aspects of daily life, including an immersive replica tobacco shed and a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air.

Explore Cuba in our 180-degree IMAX Dome Theatre at the Museum. From colonial architecture to breathtaking landscapes, get an inside look at this vivacious and colorful nation with CUBA in IMAX.

  • Do I need a reservation to see ¡CUBA!?

    No. Tickets may be used at any time during your visit to the Museum.

  • How do I purchase tickets?

    Tickets are available online at discoveryplacescience.org, by calling 704.372.6261 x300 or in person at Museum Admissions.

  • What times is the exhibition open?

    The exhibition is open during regular Museum operating hours: Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Sunday noon - 5:00 p.m.

  • How long can you stay inside the exhibition? How long will it take to tour the exhibition?

    Within the hours the exhibition is open, you can stay as long as you like. We recommend allowing about one to two hours. The length of time will vary on how long each visitor wishes to explore the exhibition. You may re-enter the exhibition at any time during your Museum visit.

  • Are strollers and wheelchairs allowed in the exhibition?

    Yes, both strollers and wheelchairs are allowed.

  • Are food and beverages allowed in the exhibition?

    No. In order to protect the exhibits and to keep the Museum clean, food and beverages are not allowed in ¡CUBA!.

  • Can I take photographs or film in the exhibition?

    Cell phone photography is allowed. Flash photography, commercial cameras and video are not allowed.

  • Are cell phones allowed in the exhibition?

    In respect for the experience of our guests, talking on cell phones is not permitted at any time inside the exhibition. Cell phones may be used for non-flash photography or texting only.

  • Do you offer wheelchair rentals?

    Wheelchairs are available complimentary and can be reserved on a first come, first serve basis at the time of check-in.

  • How do we purchase group tickets?

    Discounts are available for groups of 15 or more. Group tickets may be purchased by calling 704.372.6261 x300.

  • Where do we park?

    Cars and vans with clearance less than 7' 8" can park in the Discovery Place Science Parking Deck for an additional charge. Parking for larger vehicles is available at an off-site lot Monday - Friday.

    All buses should arrive at 6th St. Admissions. One teacher/chaperone should exit the bus and will be greeted by a Discovery Place Science team member who will provide check-in directions. Please have students remain on the bus until directed to disembark.

  • Can we bring a bag lunch?

    Yes, bag lunches are permitted at Discovery Place Science. You will need to schedule a lunch time when making your group reservation.

  • Is there lunch available for purchase at Discovery Place Science?

    Yes, box lunches are available for purchase through Curio City Cafe. Please call 704.372.6261 x300 for options.

  • When is payment due for our group outing?

    Payment in full is due 3 weeks prior to your scheduled arrival date. American Express, Discover, MasterCard and VISA are accepted. A check with your PO number written in the memo section is also accepted.

  • What if I need to reschedule or cancel my trip? Can I change the number of participants?

    Cancellation notice of three weeks is required for a full refund. Cancellations with less than three weeks’ notice are non-refundable but may be rescheduled for a visit within a 12-month period. There is no fee for rescheduling as long as the class or visit is rescheduled within one week of the cancellation date and the visit is completed within the 12 months of the originally scheduled date. Changes to the number of attendees must be made three days prior to the program or visit to receive a refund. No refunds will be issued the day of the visit, and no refunds will be issued for amounts of $10.00 or less.

  • What is the minimum number of tickets required for a group purchase?

    To receive the group discount, you must purchase a minimum of 15 tickets.

  • How many chaperones does my school group need?

    One adult chaperone is required for every 10 students. All chaperones must pay $11.50 admission.
