KidScience

Try. Test. Tinker.

Ever wonder where curiosity begins?

Experiment, create and play together in KidScience, Discovery Place Science's early education exhibition for young children, ages 0-7, and their caregivers. This exclusive area will let even the littlest guest explore science through the power of play, inquiry and exploration.

Little hands and big imaginations can create towering structures using soft foam blocks and experiment with imaginative materials like DUPLOS and Magnatiles at building tables. A special Light Table will light up your little one’s day as you explore colors and light on an illuminated surface, or create your own colorful designs at our jumbo light peg wall.

Rev your engines as you build and race Kids K’Nex cars down the race track, or test the fastest route in the A-Mazing Airways wind tunnel to see colorful scarves whiz through a maze of clear tubes. For kids on the move, stop in front of the Wind Wall to channel your inner superhero as you experience a gust of wind that will make you feel like you’re soaring through the clouds.

If you’re having fun, make some noise! Check out the sound wall where you can thump out some tunes on an over-sized xylophone, rattle a rainstick and drum on the kitchen pots and pans percussion.

Then dive into some fun at the Water Table where children can fill and pour, float boats, spin water wheels and design water pathways all while exploring how water moves. Special baby seats provide even the youngest visitors with a chance to splish and splash. Water proof aprons and hand dryers are available, but we recommend bringing a change of dry clothes.

Our littlest guests and their caregivers can explore the NanoZone, a special area designed for toddlers, ages birth to 36 months to engage in Soft Play for tummy time, walk across our Adventure Challenge Bridge, laugh along with the funny Giggle Flowers; and more.

With so much excitement, families may want to take some quiet time to share a story with your little one in our Reading Nook. Pull up a chair and open your favorite science story to read together.
