Re-apply to be an Apprentice and join our team for Summer 2024!

• ONLY RETURNING APPRENTICES are encouraged to reapply if they have been in any previous cohort. This application is available until April 30; we will not accept late or incomplete ones.
• Apprenticeships are available at Discovery Place Science, Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville or Rockingham. Certain positions are only available depending on the Museum location.
• Students in both positions must serve 80 hours between June – September 2024.
• Before starting, all returning Apprentices must attend a virtual orientation on May 12 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
• The applicant is responsible for scheduling their hours/weeks or service in advance; Youth Development does not schedule for them.

This application is for RETURNING Apprentices only. Once we review your application, accepted Apprentices will receive a confirmation email outlining the next steps of onboarding.

Your intent to return application does not guarantee acceptance into the Summer 2024 Cohort.  

If you want to join the apprenticeship program as a first-time applicant, please revisit this page in August to apply for the Fall 2024 Cohort.  

Available Positions

Summer Camp Apprentice – Must be 16 years old by June 1

• Will assist with various aged Summer Camps.
• Required to serve a full week Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. at a time. Your chosen weeks do not have to be consecutive.
• Responsible for signing up for your chosen work week in advance and committing to a week of Summer Camps that works best for your schedule. 

Museum / Exhibit Apprentice – Must be 14 years old by June 1

• Will assist the Operations Team with floor and exhibit support.
• Shift options are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. during regular Museum hours of operation.
• Responsible for signing up in advance for your chosen shift(s), including the dates/times you would like to serve.
